The Schluter®-KERDI-SHOWER-KIT contains all the components needed to create a waterproof and vapor-tight shower assembly. So what's in the KIT? A roll of KERDI waterproofing membrane is included, which is used to protect walls from moisture penetration. You will also find KERDI-BAND waterproofing strips, to seal all seams and connections. KERDI-KERECK preformed inside and outside corners are supplied to easily seal vulnerable areas of your shower. A KERDI-SEAL-PS pipe seal and a KERDI-SEAL-MV mixing valve seal are included. These are used to seal pipe protrusions and protect moisture-sensitive solid backing panels. All kits contain a KERDI-SHOWER-T, TS or TT sloped shower tray with integrated KERDI waterproofing. This video shares how to do the Schluter shower pan and Schluter curb installation. We cover a lot of important details. And you'll see step-by-step how to waterproof the entire Schluter shower. For more home improvement tips visit 🤍 The first step was to cut out the old shower drain and center the new Schluter drain. This requires additional support underneath the 3/4" OSB. Keep in mind, the only thing being replaced in this bathroom was the shower. Once the shower drain was positioned we added new 3/4" OSB over the new framing. Then the Schluter shower pan was cut to size, i.e. 32" x 47". Both the Schluter shower pan and curb we set using ALL-SET mortar and waterproofed using four inside corners (Kerdi), Kerdi-Band at every wall/curb transition, and two outside corners (Kerdi). Then work your way toward the drain. In this example we cut 4 tiles from the center of the sheet to see what that would look like. From there, we added sheets of tile toward the plumbing wall, back wall, curb, and shower bench. Industry standards require a minimum 1/8" expansion and contraction joint between the tile and wall boards or curb. Cutting tiles for the shower floor is a lot easier with an angle grinder and diamond blade. But wear a silica dust respirator. Our Part 2 video will share how to set these tiles on the shower floor using thin-set mortar.

Second upload of solid surface shower pan installation. This video shows the process of leveling the floor ready for the solid surface shower pan installation. During the process, the self-leveling compound is used to perfectly level the existing concrete. We also cut the drainpipe level with the floor in preparation for the pan to be installed. This is how to fix low water pressure from a shower head in seconds. All modern/new shower heads have a restrictor inside to reduce water usage which is great, however that in turns leaves the user with a low / weak water pressure. PEX can be used with this Posi-Temp valve for the cold and hot water supplies as well as the shower water supply. This video shares Part 1 of how to do a Schluter Shower Installation, we discuss what's in the kit, how to add a prefab niche, customize the pan, cut down the curb, dry fit the drain, and more. For more home improvement tips visit 🤍 Helpful Links: -Schluter Shower Kit (48" x 72") 🤍 -Schluter Shower Niche (12" x 28") 🤍 -Schluter Corner Bench (16" x 16" x 20") 🤍 -KERDI Trowel 🤍 In this bathroom we installed a 4' x 5' shower and used the Schluter shower kit which included a 48" x 72" shower pan, which we cut to size. Our wall substrate was drywall and that will be waterproofed using Schluter's KERDI membrane. Schluter recommends drywall for this type of installation. Also, 8 feet of curb comes with the kit, and we'll show how to cut those down to 5 feet. Schluter shower systems require a solid subfloor and in this example we had a 3/4" plywood subfloor. Check the floor is level by using a 4 foot level. In this shower we installed a 12x28 inch shower niche in the corner of the shower plumbing wall, which was the only interior wall. It's important to only install shower niches inside interior walls. We had to cut the edge of the niche and customize it for this installation because our tile will run into it from the main wall. Niches are installed using Schluter screws and washers. Cut and fit drywall around the niche and the rest of the walls in the shower. It's imperative the shower stud walls be plumb and even with each other. Screw drywall to the studs using acceptable building code screw spacing and screw length, we used 1-5/8" coarse threaded screws. Once the drywall is installed the next step is to dry fit the shower tray, cut it to size, and dry fit the shower drain. Keep in mind the shower tray can be cut to size within reason. Richard determines that the problem is with the pressure-balancing cartridge inside the mixing valve and he takes the homeowner to a local plumbing supply company to get the necessary repair parts. While there, Richard also asks for a new trim package, which will update the look of the valve. Back at the condominium, Richard removes the old handle and face plate. He then closes the shut-off valves, removes the valve cap, and pulls out the old pressure-balancing unit. He then attaches new o-rings and inserts the new cartridge. He then installs a new cap with some plumber's grease for lubrication. Richard then installs a new sub-base and attaches the new trim and handle.
